The area around Bertric Burée is rich in history with many interesting ancient chateaux and medieval bastide towns within easy reach in this part of the Dordogne. Locally, there are numerous small river beaches, where bathing is safe and canoes or kayaks can be hired. A trip to the coast is only one and a half hours away and the beaches on this side of France are stunning. Riberac town, 8 km away (less than 5 miles), has its own wealth of history and beauty and offers many facilities, including banks, supermarkets, medical centres, vets, small, interesting shops and even a sports stadium with tennis courts and three open-air swimming pools. It also has many inviting restaurants. Riberac market, which is on every Friday morning, is the largest in Perigord and often has musicians or drama groups performing in its centre. Market day is a hive of activity in the town and great fun to visit, especially the food stalls, read more on our blog post here. Riberac also boasts some night clubs and bars where they have musical soirées to suit most tastes and visitors are greeted with a warm welcome.

There are some beautiful walks around L’Etang, past meadows and lakes or just walk to our little village, Bertic Burée, just over I km away (less than a mile) and buy wonderful fresh bread from the boulangerie or eat at the Aux Petits Oignons our local restaurant.
